Good start for Faisao, Fresco in Blue Haus caging

Faisao tallied a game high 19 points as Fresco Saipan dominated the night, 78-61.

A handful of turnovers led to GPPC’s downfall in the third quarter while Eclevia scored eight points and center Jun Park earned four.

Fresco Saipan took a fragile 10-9 lead in the first quarter and pulled away with 18 more points.

By the second quarter,GPPC’s leading scorers Randy Mungcal and Alex Ocampo scored only three of their team’s 12 points. Teammate Paquito Jimenez aided with a three-pointer for his only basket of the evening.

Despite Park fouling out, Faisao picked up the pace with 13 points in the second half. Eclevia — landing 13 overall — squeezed in a layup between Alex Ocampo and Timbal before getting fouled. Jay-Ar Concepcion bagged 10, Park posted six, and Jerry Mabini and Joshua Wodson scored eight each.

Inchcape 69, Star Water 56

Meanwhile, Gilbert Miranda and Ian Castro lifted Inchcape, 69-56 to conquer Star Water.

Miranda and Castro posted 20 and 17 points, respectively while Marvin Marchadesch and Matt Buenabajo scored 10 apiece.

Star Water’s one-point deficit snowballed into six as Inchcape led, 28-22 in the first half.

Miranda hammered his second three-pointer in the fourth quarter and capped with a 13-point second half.

Star Water’s Jomari Tengco and Erwin Gomez drew double digit scores, but it still didn’t suffice against Inchcape’s effective late-game offense.

George Villasan and Inchcape’s head coach Ed Echavez finished off with a combined 12 points.

Tengco, missing on his usual threes, had to make do with two free throws and a jumper in the third quarter.

Despite their shorthanded six-player lineup, Inchcape outscored Star, 27-18 to secure the closing 10 minutes.
