Officer Seman gets 12 days for assaulting wife

The court was supposed to conduct its preliminary hearing on Seman, but the court was informed of a change of plea hearing yesterday morning.

Judge Kenneth L. Govendo sentenced Seman to six months imprisonment, all suspended, except for 12 days.

Yesterday, Seman was ordered released from custody, and placed by the court on two years probation.

The Department of Public Safety had yet to issue a statement on the status of Seman’s employment, or if an administrative charge is also being pursued against him.

Govendo required Seman to pay a $100 fine,  all court costs and a probation fee.

Seman will write a letter of apology to his wife. He will attend and complete counseling for anger management, alcohol abuse and parenting class.

Seman will not consume, purchase, or possess alcohol for the entire term of his probation.

Assistant Attorney General Peter Prestley prosecuted the case while court-appointed defense attorney Michael Dotts represented Seman.

On July 16, 2011, police said the victim arrived home in Dandan from work at about 6:20 p.m., and heard her children crying in the living room.

The victim said she saw Seman sleeping on the couch.

Seman had bloodshot eyes and the victim saw an empty Soju bottle and beer in the kitchen,.

The victim later saw her husband carrying their two children while walking outside their residence.

When she caught up with him and tried to take the children from the defendant’s arms,  she said Seman slapped and kicked her thigh.

The victim said she was scared as she grabbed her children and ran away from Seman. The victim went to a neighbor’s house where she called 911.

Responding police officers saw Seman in front of Jin Store, also in Dandan, at about 10:26 p.m.
