Nikita Mendiola bagged the first place with her rendition of “Ain’t No Sunshine” by Bill Withers and went home $100 richer. Jonathan San Nicolas from Bank of Guam with his song “Sweet Child of Mine” and Joni Polistico with his song “Twilight Time” won a tie for second place. Each received with $75.
JC Café manager Lot G. Bunao said the final Magpasikat (Be Famous) Challenge or the Battle of the Champions will be on July 9.
Prizes at stake for the final challenge will be $250, $100 and $50 for the top three placers.
Since its launching in February, the JC Café Magpasikat Challenge has been producing a batch of fresh talents each month.
“Initiating the Showtime Challenge has been fun for us, and aside from discovering new talents among the residents and entertaining the audience, it has also helped increase economic activity in the island. This is something that we really need to do in these hard economic times,” Bunao said.
JC Café is looking forward to hosting the final night where the past champions will battle it out for the cash prizes and for other prizes from the event sponsors.
