FBI looks into stimulus check scam

“The FBI is aware of the allegations regarding the stolen checks. We are conducting an initial assessment to determine if there is federal jurisdiction that justifies an FBI investigation,” FBI special agent Tom Simon told the Variety.

“Please understand that if a full FBI investigation is launched, we can’t discuss it unless or until criminal charges are filed,” he added.

The Department of Public Safety or the Department of Finance had yet to issue a statement regarding the allegations.

Employees of Saipan Triple Star Recycling Company learned that their stimulus checks, each amounting to $400, had been released and cashed.
