“I wish I get informed directly. I feel like a bystander. I am not involved. I get information not directly from the source,” Quitugua told Variety yesterday afternoon.
Quitugua attended Mass in San Antonio last night while a 6 p.m. Mass was held at the Santa Soledad Mission Parish Church in Kagman.
People, friends and family members are asking her for updates, but she cannot give them information because authorities are not informing her, she said.
“All I hear are rumors,” she added.
Quitugua continues searching for her daughters.
“I find it more difficult and harder now compared to the beginning. I am shocked, and still in shock. I find it harder as days go by,” she said.
Quitugua said she continues to spend time at the Santa Lourdes Shrine in As Teo and at the bus stop where her daughters were last seen.
Quitugua, who was working on Guam prior to the disappearance of her daughters, said she last spoke to them on their birthdays early this year.
She is now staying with her mother Magdalena Camacho in San Antonio.
Elbert Quitugua, the missing girls grandfather, said their family is undergoing a “painful process” as he urges the community for information.
Department of Public Safety Commissioner Ramon C. Mafnas told Variety he will schedule a media conference next week. He did not elaborate.
Federal Bureau of Investigation special agent Tom Simon, for his part, said: “We ask that the good people of Saipan remain actively engaged in this effort by continuing to talk, share theories, and cooperate with law enforcement.”
He added, “Crimes like this are rare anywhere, but the thought of this happening on a beautiful, peaceful place like Saipan is unthinkable. The FBI will not give up on these efforts until there is no more investigation to be done. We ask that the people of Saipan join us in this commitment.”
The total reward money for any information leading to the recovery of the sisters or prosecution of person or persons behind their disappearance is now $50,000.
Call 911, the FBI at 322-6934, the girls’ family hotline at 285-4048 or the Crime Stoppers at 234-7272.
