Logs collected throughout the islands

“We need enough space for logs. This is not a small thing they are doing on island,” the mayor said, referring to P&A which has collected 10 tons of tree branches and trunks.

In partnership with the Saipan mayor’s office, the company is cutting down rotten and dead trees on island to help ensure public safety.

Since April when P&A forged an agreement with Flores, it  has already cut down more than 20 trees from different areas on island, its general manager Ho Joon Joo said.

He said they will start chopping off the logs into chip as soon as their equipment arrives.

The logs that they have so far collected are temporarily stored in the company’s warehouse.

Flores said Department of Public Lands Secretary Oscar Babauta is receptive to their request.

The mayor said he offered to assist P&A since it is providing services to the community.

“The community appreciates their efforts and we continue to support them ,” he added.

P&A is also assisting the mayor’s office in improving its nursery station in Chalan Kanoa, Flores said.

His office is conducting an inventory of rotten and dead trees that are already posing danger to motorists and other residents.

P&A provides manpower and equipment to help  the mayor’s office respond to requests for the removal of trees or trimming work.
