Judy’s Flower Shop going…gone?

Judy’s Flower Shop on Middle Road has announced that it will be clearing its inventory in the next two weeks.

As he makes an important decision in the next few weeks, Kim Seung Baeg said he is seeking divine intervention.

“I pray to God as I make a decision,” said  Kim on his next plan of action.

In the meantime, he is holding a closeout sale marking down his items 60 to 80 percent off.

“It’s hard to sell these days. There are days when we only had one or two customers a day,” he said.

Judy’s Flower Shop, a hybrid flower shop and antique store, opened to a promising start in 2005.

Kim said he spent about $650,000 for building costs and made an initial investment of $100,000 for the store’s contents.

He pays $1,200 every month for lease and an average of $1,000 monthly for utilities.

Judy’s Flower Shop has a wide array of items that are predominantly oriental from painting, to sculptures, lamps, furniture, among other gift items.

Kim said he had to let go of his one employee, a florist, owing to slow business.

He said in the past, people would come to his store after eating out.

Now, he said, people no longer visit his store as they would rather spend money on food.

As he clears his inventory in the next few weeks, he told Variety he may open a new business but he “leaves it all to God” if this is the right action to take.

Those who have been its loyal patrons over the last few years, and those looking for best buys can visit his store on Middle Road.

The store is open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday to Saturday.
