Japanese wins $65K pot prize in first blackjack tournament of the year

Jun Mabuchi, a regular player at the Tinian Dynasty, bagged  $65,000. Okada Yusuke placed second and won $22,000 and was followed by third placer Hoshi Masayoshi who won $10,000.

Fourth to seventh placers Sekii Keiichi, Muranishi Takao, Lee Dae Hak and Lah Se Won won $1,000 each.

Masayoshi maintained a good lead during the last five hands but Mabuchi took over and grabbed the lead from the third to the final hands.

Okada and Muranishi were the young ones playing against the regulars.

Tinian Dynasty marketing and promotions manager Chell Funtanar said the 101 players who joined the tournament were mostly regulars from Japan and Korea, 15 of whom were females.

“We had three heats where the top three advanced to the semifinals but nobody qualified to the finals so we picked up four wild cards,” Funtanar said.

Funtanar said of the 101 players, 49 made it to the semifinals, and from 49, seven made it to the final table.

Funtanar said the next blackjack tournament is in December. The next even is a baccarat tournament scheduled for July 9-10, 2011.

She said the event was well attended considering that it is a blackjack tournament. “We usually have more players for baccarat.”

She added, “We are hoping to continue attracting these guests to come back and play in our casino. We are doing our best to give to them the best service that we can so they’ll enjoy playing here in Dynasty and keep coming back.”
