The purchase took place in November last year but the official transition to new management was held in January, according to Sabri Jiffry the new operations manager.
Jiffry said Venture Transportation Corp. bought the company from Venture CNMI Corp. which had managed Budget Rent-a-Car on Saipan since the early 1990s.
He said although Venture Transportation ran Budget Rent-a-Car on Guam and on Rota it is a different and separate company from Venture CNMI Corp.
The former manager of Budget-Rent-a-Car on Saipan was Agnes Shrack. Its corporate office is on Airport Road in Dandan.
Under new management, Budget Rent-a-Car plans to increase its fleet of cars from 25 to 35, Jiffry said.
Budget-Rent-a-Car used to have over 100 cars.
Although the CNMI’s economic situation is challenging, Jiffry said they believe they can expand their business.
However, he added, they would have to reduce their personnel.
