Pagarao paved the way with 31 points and Mesa scored 16 to eliminate team Aye Par Battay, 65-43.
The merciless Mix A Lots made no room for mistakes and headed off to a 32-12 lead in the first half. Pagarao connected three layups and a three-pointer to back the team’s early-game surge while Niki Hofschneider squeezed in two baskets.
Only Jaime Mendoza and Nicole Arborilas broke through the Mix A Lots’ defense on a series of run and gun plays. Both however, couldn’t get past Pagarao, who posted 12 points by half time. A well timed layup handed Mae Ito two of her five points.
Again and again, Lalaine tore through the scene with open layups and piled 13 points within five minutes. Despite her frustration, Aye Par’s Joane Palero still couldn’t get her hands on Pagarao and allowed four points for the Mix A Lots.
With 10 minutes left in the second half, the Battays still had hopes for recovery – deleting a 20-point deficit was no easy task, however.
Maria Iriarte scored eight points and Mesa added six to end the match. A whopping 19 points from Pagarao was more than enough to take the Battays out of the equation.
Mendoza led her team with 16 points, Nicole Arborilas mustered 12, and team captain Jeralyn Castillo scored four.
Results from a second game between the Party Rockers and Lazy Buttsss were not available during press time.
