A balanced offense and defense helped Saipan Southern High School dominate Kagman High School, 13-8 in five innings at the Miguel “Tan Ge” Basa Ball Field last Tuesday.
The Mantas — now with four wins —will gain the top seed in next week’s double round robin playoffs. An eight-run second inning and Jenny Scalica’s single was enough to secure the game.
Saipan Southern’s starting pitcher Cathy Amanda struck out six and gave up five runs on one hit. Julie Arriola, Scalica, Tara Ramon, and Jutanna Cabrera scored two runs apiece.
Regina scored the Mantas’ last run on an error in the bottom of the third and Amanda bagged two RBI with a single in the first inning.
The Ayuyus will play Mount Carmel School today at 4 p.m.
