7 participants top Tinian All Schools qualifier

Shin, with the bitter taste of revenge, then outshined Ignacio in the U18 200m dash after clocking in at 27.17 seconds while Ignacio timed in at 27.28 seconds followed by Sanchez at 27.41 seconds. Shin also topped the U18 400m qualifier after reaching the finish line faster than anyone else at 1:13.3.

In the female division no other runner vied for the 100m dash except for Alonica Anore who posted a time of 35.82 seconds in the 18-and-under 200m dash and will be representing Tinian in the championship rounds scheduled to kick off on May 6-7 on Saipan at the Oleai Complex.

Adam Cabrera will also represent Tinian after posting the fastest time in the U14 100m, 200m, 400m, and 800m events at 13.34 seconds, 27.01 seconds, 1:09:08, and 2:49.5 respectively.

Nikkie Quichocho and Alana Takasi will also join the roster for the championship round after topping the U14  400m with a record time of 1:38.2 and the U18 800m qualifier at 3:59.1 respectively.

In the U18 800m Paul Daniel Ayuyu remained calm and came out on top after clocking in at 3:21.5 followed by Hermes Ramos and Eric Hoschnieder who timed in at 3:25.5 and 3:35.3 respectively.

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank Mr. Julian Hofschneider, Eric San Nicholas, Josh Zietlow, Ed Temengil, the volunteers and students for making our trip there possible and for being such a gracious host,” said Elias Rangamar, meet director, in an email to Variety.

“The lack of equipment and regular competitions never dampened the spirits and competitive energy of those students as they braved the windy conditions.  I wish all the students the best of luck and hope to see them all on Saipan come May 6th & 7th,” Rangamar further stated.

All schools qualifier on Saipan

In regards to the PSS meet being conducted at the Oleai Complex on Saipan, races will resume today.

Today the 4 x 100m relays for all private and public elementary, junior high, and high schools are scheduled to kick off at the Oleai complex.

The Variety learned that revisions were made to the schedule of the remainder of the All Schools qualifiers starting next week leading up to the championship rounds on May 6-7. Rangamar also said that April 18-22 will be spring break for most schools so he postponed the meet for that week to the following week.

He advised all coaches to “please go over the revised schedule as the program schedule has been completely revamped.”
