Throwing events welcome more students in all schools qualifier

Lone competitor Nersherin Pascua will also be included in Tinian’s roster for the championship round in May after drawing first blood in the U14 female long jump category. Pascua landed at 2.70 meters with no other competitor vying with her.

In the male category U14 Tinian Junior High School’s Henry Sandbergen edged past Adam Cabrera by a couple of inches with 4.49 meters while Cabrera posted 4.47 meters.

In the older age group, females U18, Alonica Anore, who also competed in the running categories, topped her division after leaping and landing at 3.08 meters followed by Yun Ha Seo and Alana Takasi at 3.01 meters and 2.73 meters respectively.

In the U18 male category Paul Daniel Ayuyu leaped the farthest at 5.08 meters while Hermes Ramos settled for second place with 4.68 meters and sealing the top three was Francisco Sanchez Jr. with 4.49 meters.

Nikki Quichocho out muscled schoolmate Nersherin Pascua after throwing the shotput at a record 6.14 meters while Pascua only registered a 6.2-meter record. Pascua was able to redeem herself during the discus event after hurling the disk farther by .67 meters, 13.33 meters and 12.66 meters respectively.

In the older U18 boys category Donnie Borja hurled the shotput farther than anyone else vying for first place after jotting down a 9.49-meter record closely tailed by Joel Ignacio and Kyle Sandbergen 9.30 meters and 8.54 meters respectively.

In the U18 female category Alana Takasi bagged the competition after catapulting the discus farther than rival Yun Ha Seo with a 16.87-meter record while Seo only nailed 10.10 meters.

In the same age category but in the male category Kyle Sandbergen was able to redeem himself after settling for second in the shotput by hurling the discus at 24.62 meters topping all the other eight competitors vying for the top spots.

Ervin Cruz settled for second place after coming 4.52 meters shy from beating Sandbergen at 20.10 meters; closely tailing Cruz was Nicky Reyes who placed third with 19.92 meters.

More competitors were seen taking part in the last event of the day which was the javelin category. Although not much females the men’s roster will be full. Jarvis King topped the U18 javelin throw after posting the farthest distance of 28.10 meters while Paul Daniel Ayuyu placed second with 27.50 meters and last but not least came Donnie Borja with 27.40 meters.

Competitors from Tinian are highly encouraged to participate in the upcoming championship round on May 6, and 7 to represent the island of Tinian against vying competitors from Saipan.
