That was nothing more or less than a very well staged political event. All anyone had to do was to look at the list of people asked to speak. They got by with it because no one seemed to have the guts to stand up and speak out. Well I did have my say. So according to Mr. Torres I am a disgruntled statesider who likes to bash every island leader and that I think that I am smarter than they are.
Mr. Torres I thought that you could do better than that. First off I am not a disgruntled statesider. I am living here because I want to, not because I have to. I do not think that I am smarter than the local lawmakers are. But I do call right right and wrong wrong. You say that you want to negotiate with the feds. That would be a welcome change, but I fear that you are several years too late.
I have to wonder about the residents of the island. You let this supposed public hearing go without saying a word. But let CUC set up a few power poles on the road to Marpi and all hell breaks loose. What is more important to you: your future or a few power poles?
New topic. For the information of all island residents we are moving forward with our attempt to co-op CUC. We need public support to get the job done. If you want to get your power bills down, the next time we have a public meeting come out and hear what we have to say. Once you hear what we have to say you can make up your own mind.
Just a little information for all of you. The government wants to privatize the power plant. The power plant is the only part of CUC that ever made money. Money made by the power plant helped pay the bills for water, waste water and cost for Rota and Tinian. If you let some investor make that money, how are you going to pay the bills for the rest of the operation? Just something for you to think about.
