This was about 430 miles west-southwest of Agrihan, 420 miles west-southwest of Pagan 415 mile west southwest of Alamagan, and 390 west of Saipan.
Tropical depression 02W was moving northeast at 22 miles per hour. It was expected to continue through Wednesday with a turn toward east-northeast late Tuesday night. This track would take the center of tropical depression 02W between Agrihan and Pagan around 8 a.m. Wednesday morning.
Maximum sustained winds were 35 mph. Tropical depression 02W was expected to intensify into a tropical storm tonight through Wednesday.
Because of the anticipated threat of tropical depression 02W, Gov. Benigno R. Fitial has declared tropical storm condition II for the islands of Agrihan, Pagan, and Alamagan.
The Emergency Management Office will continue monitoring the movement of tropical depression 02W and will be issuing bulletins as soon as these become available. Members of the public are asked to continue to monitor the official bulletins which will be available through local media sources and NOAA weather radio broadcast on 162.5 megahertz, the emergency information hotline at 322-0220 or CNMI 211. Residents on Agrihan may contact the Emergency Management Office through single sideband radio frequency 5.205.0.
