In the open boys’ high jump event Marianas High School’s Gregorio Duatin Jr. and Cultura Atheltics’ Trevor Ogumoro tied first place with 1.74m while Clay McCullough-Stearns nailed second place followed by Guam Central Athletic Club’s Jeofry Limtiaco took third. McCullough-Stearns and Limtiaco posted 1.60m and 1.54m.
Ogumoro took the first place ribbon home in the open boys’ long jump at 34.45m and the open boys’ triple jump with 11.51m. Cultura Athletics’ Ron Olopai rallied past everyone in the hammer event with 22.67 while Marianas High School’s Rita Del Avellano clinched first with 21.74.
In the open girls’ high jump Cultura Athletics’ Rachel Abrams was awarded first place jumping the highest at 1.35m followed by 15U Junior Nationals’ Melody Johnson and Theodora Falcon with 1.16 and 1.10.
Cultura Athletics’ and gold medalist Liamwar Rangamar topped the open girls’ javelin, discus, and shotput throw in a pool of eight overall vying athletes posting the best distance at 34.42m for the javelin, 26.92m for the discus, and 9.59m for the shotput event.
Sylvan Rangamar and Jack Gabriel dominated the open boys’ discus and javelin events. Rangamar hurled the discus the farthest at 32.33 while Gabriel posted the best distance at 34.45m.
GCAC’s Jeofry Limtiaco and Naomi Blaz drew first blood after posting the best time in the open boys and girl’s 400m dash. The former clocked in at 54.05 while the latter posted 1:02.81.
Limtiaco beat Cultura Athletics’ Douglas Dillay and Beouch Ngirchongor. Dillay and Ngirchongor timed in at 57.28 and 57.63 respectively while Blaz sailed past clubmate Rheada Unpingco and Cultura Atheltics’ Reylyn Sapong. Unpingco and Sapong posted 1:06.26 and 1:09.89 respectively.
GCAC’s Jorgene Abalos sailed past Matthew Mancao and Eddy Manalili in the 300m steeplechase. Abalos finished the race ahead of Mancao by 7.45 seconds with 11:37.80.
Results for the 2011 Northern Marianas Atheltics’ National Championship’s middle distance, long distance, 4x100m relay, and the 800m sprint medley relay also known as the “1124” event will be posted up for tomorrow’s issue of the Marianas Variety.
