The Saipan World Resort Scholarship program will provide $1,000 per scholarship recipient, which is a one-time reward and can be used for Fall and Spring semesters at NMC. The scholarship is open to applicants pursuing a degree at the College, which currently offers degrees in business, liberal arts, nursing, natural resources management, criminal justice, hospitality and education.
“The scholarships provided by the Saipan World Resort will go a long way in assisting students achieve their educational and professional goals,” said NMC interim President Lorraine T. Cabrera. “We are grateful for the company’s commitment to higher education in the CNMI.”
To be eligible, an applicant must be a high school senior, must be currently residing in Saipan for a minimum of 36 consecutive months, be accepted and enrolled as a full-time student at NMC during the 2011-2012 academic school year, and must have a high school grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
The scholarship will also be based on merit and will be awarded to the recipient on the basis of the applicant’s community involvement, academic background, and letters of recommendation. The written essay will also play a key role in the final selection of scholarship recipients.
The deadline for submitting applications for the Saipan World Resort Scholarship is May 31, 2011.
