Hosted by the Northern Marianas Bartenders Association, the competition will be held at the rear stage of the Taste of the Marianas International Food Festival & Beer Garden.
Two females and 10 male bartenders will compete to showcase their signature cocktails using a combination of taste, originality, showmanship, neatness, audience impact, and neatness within a given time frame.
As in the previous years, the participants will have to prepare one drink for display and more drinks for the judges within the time frame.
Frank Tudela of the Marianas Visitors Authority said this year’s participants include representatives from The Flair, Pacific Islands Club, Hyatt Regency Saipan, World Resort Saipan, Laolao Bay Golf Resort, GIG Discotheque, Hard Rock Café Saipan, and Mr. Wonderful Bar.
Last year, Hyatt’s Bernadine C. Aquino took home two awards during the Annual Bartender Cocktail Competition — placing second in the overall competition and winning the Best in Taste Award for the concoction “Marianas Trench.”
“Once again we would like to invite the community to come and watch this spectacular showmanship, and partake of the island’s wide variety of food and beverages, and enjoy the numerous entertainment numbers at the Taste of the Marianas International Food Festival and Beer Garden,” Tudela said.
Next Saturday, which is the last day for the Taste of the Marianas, junior chefs from major hotels will participate in a competition beginning at 7 p.m.
