Realistically speaking, and as I’ve said before, why can’t we instead have investors build a shopping mall? The CNMI generates revenue from the biggest money-making market, which is tourism. Tourists come in packs ready to scuba dive, shop, do sightseeing, etc. Can you not see that some of the places they go sightseeing to and scuba dive have craters on the roads much worse than the craters on the moon?
Realistically, how many tourists will play in a casino and leave their children locked away in their hotel rooms?
We are placing bets to a game that can’t be won. This type of gaming activity is not family-oriented in any form. We need a shopping mall and the whole works: lots of games and activities for all ages. Mini-golf games, archery, water exercises for the elderly, or even a skating rink, etc. This will entice our local population to come over and have something to do since nightlife in the islands is not exciting.
The world does not call Saipan “Little Tokyo” for nothing. Let’s live up to that name.
