The Marianas Visitors Authority said the first flight of Sichuan Airlines to Saipan from Shanghai is scheduled to arrive at the Saipan international airport on Monday at 5 a.m.
On Tuesday, the maiden flight out of Guangzhou will arrive on Saipan at 2:40 a.m.
Sichuan Airlines was only established in 1986 but it has since positioned itself as a major player in China’s growing international aviation industry.
In its monthly update, MVA said arrivals from China declined by 15 percent last March to 2,707 because there was only one charter flight during the period as opposed to two in March 2010.
