Both players won seven out of seven games so far, bagging 21 sets and 242 points. Second-ranked Andrew Galvez and Edwin Montoya trail the Arago-Hibi duo with five wins and one loss, taking 12 sets and 70 points.
Arago and Hibi defeated Dick Guintu and Mario Diola in an earlier game, 21-13 and 21-18. Hapi Gabriel and Obet Aguilar met the same fate, losing 21-16 and 21-7. Aries Cordero and Cris Hilario came close to winning against the duo, but fell one point in the second set.
Arago and Hibi are favored to reach the semifinals. Guintu and Diola are currently at third place, winning three of five games.
In the Women’s Class A division, Marlene Perleja and Lani Bartolome are tied at five wins with Annarose Omori and Michelle Caleon.
Perleja and Bartolome, ahead by two sets, have the upper hand.
Gabriel is also ahead with Malou Malasarte in the Mixed Class A category, right above Guintu and Choi Hanna.
Top-ranked teams have been determined in the Class C men’s and women’s divisions.
