IT&E service outage during upgrade to GSM Network

IT&E customers in Guam were unaffected by the service outage, as were IT&E’s CDMA subscribers in the CNMI. The service interruption was limited to IT&E’s GSM subscriber base in the CNMI.

IT&E chief operating officer Joe Camacho said  the outage was unplanned and came in conjunction with a network-wide upgrade that will enhance the communications experience for all of IT&E’s GSM customers.

“The unfortunate thing is that we were installing an upgrade to improve our GSM network service to our customers when the outage occurred. The problem was not discovered until around mid-morning and our customers were inconvenienced for a period of several hours while we resolved the problem.”

IT&E technicians worked quickly to address the situation and restored service to the affected GSM subscribers by 2 p.m. Camacho said that service interruptions are rare on IT&E’s network and that the company remains committed to provide customers with the network quality they’ve come to know and trust.

“We will continue to provide the best network possible for our valued customers. We hope that the GSM Network upgrade will prove to be a benefit to our many customers.”

To compensate our valued customers for Saturday’s inconvenience, IT&E will provide all GSM postpaid customers with a two-day prorated credit on their accounts, a two-day credit to all unlimited GSM prepaid customers, and a $2 credit on all regular GSM prepaid customers.
