Letter to the Editor: Yes, I am still here

The truth of the matter is that I have decided to spend my time working on getting CUC turned in to a co-op utility. We now have a steering committee which is working very hard to get the by-laws drawn up. We are working with a group called NRECA, or the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association. This an association formed by over 900 co-op utility groups in the United States. They produce 47 percent of all the electrical power produced in the United States. They have agreed to work with us to make sure that we do things right and get off to a good start as a co-op. They bring a lot of experience to the table with them. They agree that we need to get the cost of power down. They can also steer us in the right direction to get onto alternative power.

As soon as we get the by-laws done and get the co-op licensed and registered we will be coming out to the community to explain what we are doing and to hopefully get the residents to support us.

I am totally convinced that the only way to get the economy turned around is to get the cost of utilities down so that we can get honest investors to come here.
