Sublemente – still fired up from winning Saturday’s Bike for Life event – bagged the fastest overall time, pushing Lewie Tenorio (1:00:27) to second place. Bob Ferrer (1:00:48) came after Tenorio for third place.
Sublemente pulled away from the rest of the group around the Wireless Ridge area and was the first to cruise through Tapochao Road.
Heather Kennedy came next to Carey at one hour, 16 minutes, and 43 seconds in the women’s division, followed by Kimiko Hasegawa (1:19:05).
Another category – the sport course- provided a shorter route. Those in the sport course also started at the bottom of Tapochau Road. Instead of entering the Egigi/McDick Trail however, riders made their way to Isa Drive and back up to Capitol Hill Road.
Cesar Fortaleza topped an all-male pool with 37 minutes and eight seconds. Arnel Cruz (38:12) was next at the finish line, trailed by John Arceo (40:10).
The bike race – hosted by the Mt. Tapochau Bike Club and the Northern Marianas Islands Triathlon Federation – earned over $800 yesterday for the Japan Disaster Relief Organization, headed by Hyatt Regency Saipan general manager Nick Nishikawa.
The MTBC and NMITF would like to thank the following sponsors: Tan Siu Lin Foundation, Brabu Pharmacy, Pacific Islands Club, Saipan Shipping Company, Bank of Guam, Taga Inc., Hyatt Regency Saipan, Super Fresh Market, IT&E, Gold’s Gym, and Pacific Trading Company.
