Manamko’ to produce DVD after successful show

Aging Office program director and show producer and director Walter Manglona said they want  their shows and performances preserved digitally.

“As they get older they can always watch their dances and songs they performed,” he added,

The senior citizens at the Aging Center will have two ways of showing their talents – through their performance on-stage and through the DVD, he said.

Last Friday’s show was very successful, he said, adding that the 200-seat  multi-purpose center was almost filled with audience.

“That’s one way our manamko’ interact with the community. They did great and they really enjoyed the show,” he said.

Aging Office Director Rose Mondala expressed her appreciation to the community for supporting the manamko’.

Senior Citizens Advisory Council president Teresita Sorroza said the show had a very good turnout even though the annual Marianas March Against Cancer was also being held at the same time on that day.

Almost all of the villages on island were represented, she said, adding that among the prominent individuals of the CNMI who showed up were Supreme Court Chief Justice Miguel S. Demapan and his wife as well as Rep. Joseph M. Palacios, R-Saipan.

On Friday morning, the manamko’ successfully held their annual golf tournament despite the absence of the players from Rota and Tinian.

Manglona said  financial constraint was the reason that representatives from Rota and Tinian failed to participate.

Terry Sitae emerged as the overall winner and won $10 and a trophy while Jose M. Torres, who made a hole-in-one,  placed second and also received $10 .

The cash prizes were donated by Alejandro Blas and Natividad Borja while Mondala donated the trophy.

Manglona said they are optimistic that the Tinian and Rota mananko’ will join the tournament next year.
