According to U.S. Coast Guard Sector Guam, a report was received by the Guam Fire Department’s Fire Rescue unit about the hikers. The Coast Guard then called upon Navy Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron 25 to assist with the unit in finding the hikers, whose names were not disclosed.
The unit instructed one of the hikers on how to access the GPS tracking system on the person’s cell phone and gave information to the helicopter crew on the location of the hikers.
