On March 20, members of ICE and CBP, along with their families, collected 12 bags of trash along the beach in Oleai. Last Saturday they also performed a cleanup in the Makaka Beach area, which they have adopted. ICE staffers started their southern sweep at the Fiesta Resort & Spa while CBP began at the Hafadai Beach Hotel and headed north. Between the two agencies, over 22 bags of garbage were collected.
“Adopting the beach is a great way to give back and a great way to participate in the community,” said Port Director John D. Sullivan. “But, the best lessons are those learned by the children who helped with the cleanup.”
