Hosted by Speaker Judi Won Pat at the University of Guam Field House, the annual event this year drew in about 550 senior citizens from all over Guam.
Won Pat said the theme this year was “dancing,” as requested by the senior citizens themselves.
“We surveyed different centers to ask them what they wanted to do, and they said they wanted to dance. So we had a band and a DJ,” shared Won Pat.
Also, this year, Won Pat said event planners wanted to ensure each senior citizen center had an equal opportunity to win prizes, which went specifically to the manamko’ from each center.
But there was also a raffle drawing for anyone who attended, as well as a separate room with food for volunteers and others who joined in the celebration.
“Our first task was to come out to serve them hand and foot. We brought out their food — it was their day,” said Won Pat.
Also present to provide support and contributions for the event was Guam first lady Christine Calvo.
