Delta donates $4,900 to Saipan Rotary Club

Rotarian Richard Parsons, Delta’s general manager for Guam/Saipan, turned over two checks for $1,429 and $3,500 which will cover the cost of dictionaries distributed to third grade students in all CNMI public schools, and for the annual Parade of Books to Rotary Club.

The checks were received by club president Glen Perez during yesterday’s meeting at the Hyatt.

Parsons said  the donation came from the  golf tournament they hosted recently.

Parsons said Delta Airlines has set aside some funds to once again help bring students from Saipan to Guam for this year’s Science Fair  which is scheduled for May.

“Last year, Delta helped transport 15 students to the Guam Science Fair, and we were very glad because about nine of the students made it to the top and brought home several awards,” Parsons said.

On behalf of the Saipan Rotary Club, Perez extended his thanks to Parsons and to Delta for the continuous support they provide to the club’s community projects.

He said the donations will go back to the community. The Rotary Club successfully held the 2011 Parade of Books  at the Marianas High School Gym on April 2.

Perez said the third graders who received their copies of the dictionaries were very happy.

“Next year, we hope to start the distribution of dictionaries to the third graders earlier,” Perez said.
