Andrew Kimball topped the mixed 5-kilometer event, posting one hour, 17 minutes, and 11 seconds. Tagaman Triathlon participant Victoria Chentsova wasn’t far behind, coming in second at 1:19:55. Grace Kimball (1:22:56) placed third, followed by Carol Lynn Calabong-Pierce (1:30:10).
Kento Akimaru, a 10-year-old member of the SSC, surprised his competitors with the fastest time of 46 minutes and 13 seconds in the mixed 3K category. Second-ranked Mieko Carey arrived to shore 29 seconds later along with Shigeki Tenorio (47:45) and Tamio Nikishido (57:11).
Lennosuke Suzuki timed in at 21 minutes and five seconds to win the mixed 1K category. Taiga Sato (21:17) placed second, beating Jennifer Kogure’s 30:14 mark.
A 215-meter event was also held for six-year-old Rintaro Miyawaki and Taiyo Akimaru, Jinnosuke Suzuki, and Leo Takahashi, all five years old.
Other participants were Ichiro Borja, RJ Pierce, Taka Borja, Mamiko and Joshua Berger, Suzy Kindel, Rinto Takahashi, Jeff Taylor, Butch Sublemente, and Kimiko Hasegawa.
For some, the ocean swim served as practice for the upcoming “Escape From Managaha” in May.
