Taga Inc. president Wolf Mojica said, “It will be an exciting race.”
He confirmed to Variety that 56 Koreans will be joining the said grueling competition tomorrow.
“I think we will have some dark horses from the Koreans,” he said.
Sam Gardner of the United Kingdom and Dan Bi Hong of South Korea are on island to defend their titles.
It will be another interesting competition among the women triathletes given the absence of reigning XTERRA World and Saipan Champion Shonny Vanlandingham.
Bucher will have a chance to win the PIC double as she battles it out with Carina Wasle, Dan Bi Hong and Suzy Snyder.
Meanwhile, participants are reminded that packets will not be issued or the participant will not be allowed to compete without showing the board members a USA TRI license and picture ID or purchasing a one day license at registration.
Transition will open at 5:00 a.m. Saturday morning to place gears and bicycles for the race. Athletes check in and numbering will take place at the finish line starting at 5:00 a.m.
Participants must have identification to take bike/gear out of the transition area. Participants must show their body marked number or run number or give it to a friend or family member to claim bikes for them if the participant is unavailable to pick it up themselves.
The swim portion of the competition is set at 2000 meters followed by the Road Bike portion of 60 kilometers, and last but not least is the Road Run distanced at 15 kilometers.
The organization would like to remind the participants and supporters to wear plenty of sunscreen and that hydration is not optional. Competitors are advised to take plenty of fluids before and on the race course unless they would like a trip to Saipan’s Commonwealth Health Center.
The results will be posted on the notice board in the finish area as soon as they are available. Personal results can be picked up at the finish line.
