Younis resigns from NMC board of regents

“On behalf of the entire college community, I want to thank Regent Younis for her dedication and commitment to Northern Marianas College,” said NMC interim President Lorraine T. Cabrera. “She has always been a staunch supporter of the college and its mission to help improve the quality of life for all residents.”

Younis began serving her term on the board of regents in July 2009. She had served as a vice chairwoman for the board and was eventually elected as its chairwoman in Oct. 2010.

“During her tenure on the board, Regent Younis has helped guide the college through one of its difficult periods following the announcement of NMC’s show cause status,” Cabrera said.

“Despite resigning from the board, I am absolutely confident that Regent Younis will continue to support and contribute to NMC’s growth,” Cabrera added. “We wish her luck on all her future endeavors.”

Cabrera said Younis’s resignation will not affect the institution’s efforts to prepare its show cause report.

“We are on track to meet our March 15, 2011 deadline to submit NMC’s show cause report,” Cabrera added.
