He said municipal officials are using travel benefits for their personal use.
He vowed to identify them in due time.
The Tinian mayor’s office did not reply to Variety’s inquiry about this issue.
The resident said the municipal government is giving its vendors a hard time while approving nonessential travels.
“This has to be stopped. Those officials pledged to observe their fiduciary responsibility to the people,” the resident said.
The CNMI, he added, is facing an economic crisis but the municipal government of Tinian continues to tolerate the travel abuses of its officials.
He is asking the Office of the Public Auditor and the Department of Finance in Tinian to look into the approval of unnecessary travels.
The resident said OPA and the Finance should start looking into the “extravagant” travel expenses incurred by officials based on the documents disclosed through the Open Government Act requests of Felipe Q. Atalig and Kimberlyn King-Hinds.
