Both teams ended the first quarter with equal scores. Both teams had complete focus on the game and not allowing fatigue to set in or lose mental focus. At the bottom of the first quarter the scores were up.
Team Mobil stepped it up a notch upon entering the second quarter and team Hoopaholics was history. Jhun Estolas and Ron Gamboa each nailed 5 points for Mobil while center man De Guzman contributed three points to their final score. By half time team Mobil was ahead of the game slicing past the Hoopaholics by three points, 43-40.
Both teams entered the second half of the bout with one common goal in mind: move on to the championship round. But team Mobil proved to be the luckier team. Mobil’s Marvin Rabauliman readily showcased his basketball talents on the arena and garnered 11 points on his own, 65-58.
Everyone, players and fans alike, anticipated the final quarter of the last play offs match. With less than three minutes left in the quarter the Hoopaholics closed the gap at 71 points all via jump shot courtesy to Kelvin Fitial.
The Hoopaholics then took hold of the driver’s seat of the game after Dave Sablan nailed a fade-away shot to give the Hoopaholics some leeway to breathe.
Estolas refused to let the game go. With fast feet movement Estolas nailed a three pointer shot to grab the lead by one point. Hoopaholics’ Jawn Joyner then received the ball on his end to successfully bag a layup shot.
Joyner was then fouled in the last ten seconds of the game and was able to nail the second charity to tie both teams. The Hoopaholics were then hoping to insert the game to a sudden death round but unfortunately they faltered in the last crucial seconds of the game.
Estolas was fouled and was given two charity shots. Estolas nailed both to seal the last seat to the championship round sending their fans into a wild frenzy, 78-76.
