Sexual abuse trial rescheduled

Presiding Judge Robert C. Naraja set a new trial date for May 16, 2011.

This is the third setting within a 12-month period, the court noted.

The court also lowered Carlos’ cash bail to $50,000 from $100,000.

According to the prosecution, Carlos, 40, sexually abused two female minors in the first degree sometime in 2001, and another minor girl on Dec. 8, 2009.  The abuses occurred while the victims and the defendant were residing in the same house, the prosecution stated.

Carlos, who has been arrested in Dec. 2009, has denied the charges.

Assistant Attorney General Benjamin Petersburg is prosecuting the case, while Assistant Public Defender Michael Brown represents Carlos.
