WIA Executive Director Edith Deleon Guerrero said the participants completed their Workforce Development and Certificate Training Program offered by Northern Marianas College’s Community Development Institute.
Deleon Guerrero said during the completion ceremony held on Feb. 5, the participants were honored for their dedication and commitment in learning 21st century job market skills.
She said the participants will be accorded the next level of service under WIA’s work experience program.
Deleon Guerrero said the partnerships will primarily focus on existing private enterprises on Rota and within the public sector that offers the best opportunity and professional training environment for the participants.
Deleon Guerrero said NMC conducts the training as WIA’s workforce partner and state training institution.
“WIA refers and subsidizes its participants who are in need of these skills,” she said.
NMC offers the trainings on a continuous basis not just for WIA participants but also for anyone in the community interested or in need of the training.
Deleon Guerrero said the training sessions are designed to meet and respond to the business needs oftentimes for entry level positions within an organization.
She said the training being offered is aligned with demand driven careers and labor market needs.
As soon as WIA participants complete their classroom instructions, they are subsequently accorded the level of WIA services such as subsidized work experience with employers.
“This is considered intensive service under WIA’s program providing participants the opportunity for placement and hands on application of their newly acquired skills with businesses that partner with WIA,” Deleon Guerrero said.
The completion ceremony was attended by parents and friends of the participants.
