Govendo remanded Anthony Raymond Mendiola Camacho, 37, to the custody of the Department of Corrections after his initial court appearance and bail hearing.
Camacho is being held on charges of assault, assault and battery, disturbing the peace, sexual assault in the first degree, sexual assault in the second degree, indecent exposure in the second degree, and kidnapping.
On Feb. 23, 2011, at about 9:37 p.m., Detective Peter Aldan said the victim reported that she was raped by Camacho.
Prior to the incident, the victim just came out of work, and was in her car in the parking lot when she heard a voice calling her name — it was Camacho.
The defendant asked the victim to drop him off at a residence in Tanapag.
Before the victim could reply, Camacho opened the car door, got in and sat in the front passenger seat, Aldan said.
The victim declined Camacho’s request because she had to go home and check on her children in Koblerville.
But Camacho was persistent, and the victim agreed to drop him off in Tanapag, Aldan said.
Along the way, Camacho directed the victim to drive toward Marpi area and later directed her to drive up As Matuis until they reached the Old Radar station.
At this time, Aldan said the victim was scared because they were in a secluded area but she was afraid to call for police assistance for fear of what Camacho might do to her.
Camacho took the key out of the ignition, exited the car, and told her that he would urinate, Aldan said.
The victim was able to get her key out of Camacho’s pouch that the defendant left on the trunk.
She tried to escape, but Camacho was able to get into the car, Aldan said.
Camacho told the victim that someone told him to “slaughter” her for snitching on three individuals who are alleged drug users, Aldan said.
The victim figured out that Camacho was losing his mind because she did not know what the defendant was talking about, Aldan said.
As Camacho began sexually assaulting her, the victim used the car key and struck Camacho’s left eye with it, Aldan said.
Camacho got out of the car, holding on to his injured left eye while the victim sped away, Aldan said.
