District administrator James Ada who will be leaving the island in a medical referral told Variety that the Little League International in Williamsport approved his request to appoint Borja.
Williamsport also approved his request to appoint Tony Rogolifoi, who was also a former Saipan Little League president, to be the assistant district administrator for technical aspect of the local youth baseball program.
As district administrator, Borja will communicate all Little League developments and activities with Williamsport and handle all regional correspondence.
Rogolifoi will be in-charged with all technical aspects of the league, including the formulation or adoption of rules and regulations in the district tournament.
In the next three weeks, Borja and Rogolifoi will work together to finalize the creation of the technical committee for this year’s CNMI district tournament that will be held at the Sinapalo Little League Ball Field on Rota. The tentative schedule will be from June 14 to 16.
The games for all divisions-majors, junior, senior and big leagues in which CNMI youths age 11 to 18 participate annually.
Once the formation of the committee is finalized it will be submitted to Rota’s Sen. Juan M. Ayuyu.
Ada said Borja and Rogolifoi will work together with assistance from Annie Flores to enhance the local Little League organization.
Borja who had been deeply involved in the youth program for years said “it brings back the memory.” He said he is looking forward to a successful CNMI Little League.
Right now, he said he and Rogolifoi is focusing on the district tournament.
Meanwhile, Ada also announced that this year’s Little League Asia-Pacific Regional Tournament for junior, senior and big divisions will be held in Jakarta, Indonesia from June 21 to 25.
The majors division will be held in Guam from July 7 to 15.
