Japan International Cooperation Agency representative to Palau Taiji Usui and JICA expert Hiedo Oya handed over the new equipment in a turnover ceremony.
PPUC general manager Kenneth Uyehara received the donation in behalf of the utilities corporation.
The equipment is worth over $4,000 and will assist PPUC’s power generation department in providing reliable and efficient energy supply.
The equipment consists of a compact laser distance measuring meter, an infrared emission thermometer, a rotation speed meter tester, a portable electric grinder and six buckets of red bearing paint.
Japan also provided to PPUC the assistance of Oya, who has over 35 years experience in mechanical engineering.
A retired Mitsubishi Heavy Industries mechanical engineer, Oya is tasked with the responsibility of providing supervisory assistance to power plant personnel and to share his technical understanding and skills to ensure proper maintenance of the power plants generators.
Now that it has new equipment, PPUC said it will have better capacity to maintain its operations.
