Adam Tagliavento, IT infrastructure engineer, and Brett Watkins, desktop architect, both from AON Australia, arrived Tuesday and are working on migrating AON Saipan to a single domain to bring the office in line with global standards.
“We provide the infrastructure and IT solutions for the office so they can operate and do their normal business. We’re here to implement a new infrastructure to the Guam and Saipan office. Basically, we’re moving from one domain to another. It’s an administration change and not really a system change,” said Tagliavento.
He told Variety that AON Saipan office would be one of the first offices to receive the new domain.
Asked how much would the change entail, Tagliavento said he didn’t know but assured it would result in cost benefits for the company.
Tagliavento also told Variety that Saipan was chosen to be the first site in AON Global to undergo the domain change because of its smaller user base. He said, “It’s an easier site to manage.”
Meanwhile, Watkins said there would be new computers. “Possibly down the line we’ll have new PC’s as we’ll be replacing existing devices.”
Watkins, who has been to Saipan four times, also confirmed that the change would be region-wide — Saipan and Guam.
“What we’re trying to do is implement a standard across the globe that will allow for easier support as we don’t have all these different environments.
That is where the main cost savings will come from,” Watkins said.
The two Australians leave for Guam on Friday and from Guam would proceed to South Korea before returning to Australia.
“It’s been fun so far. It has been a lot of work but I enjoy coming back,” Watkins said.
