“I am pleased to start the mayor’s wellness campaign to get our resident exercising more, eating properly and living healthier more active lifestyles,” said Dela Cruz.” I am excited at the prospect of employing new programs in Tinian to make a difference.”
The goal of the program is to increase opportunities for Tinian residents to participate daily in physical activity with a long-term goal of reducing personal and health care costs related to obesity.
Through public-private partnerships, the campaign provides structure and resources for healthy community initiatives.
“Obesity rates, and the resulting incidences of diabetes, heart disease and hypertension are rising at alarming rates for our people here on Tinian, but this trend could be reversed with changes to diet and exercise regimens,” said Dela Cruz.
The campaign is in partnership with private sponsors.
