All was going well for team Ol’Aces during the start of the game until the third quarter. They snatched the lead through the first three quarters only to falter in the last crucial seconds of the game.
The game started out rather slowly for both team but nonetheless team Ol’Aces grabbed the driver’s seat of the game and kept clear away from the Hoopaholics. At the bottom of the first quarter the scores were up 22-18.
The game picked up speed during the second quarter of the game after Tony Diaz was fouled early into the quarter. Diaz nailed both charities and moved on to charter 7 points for the Ol’Aces.
Freddie Peliseman contributed his 5 pence to the team while teammates Jose Tumaquip and Junior Rengul each collared 4 points.
They were able to keep their lead by three points by half time with the scores up at 44-41 in favor of team Ol’Aces.
The third quarter proved to be intense on both sides. Diaz readily showed his basketball talents to bag 8 points. Trevor Ogumoro refused to let their foes catch up to them. He jumped into the winning band wagon and grabbed another 9 points for the team.
By the end of the quarter, the Ol’Aces were able to balloon the lead to 6 points, 71-65. All players then anticipated the final quarter of the game.
The lat quarter of the game proved to be a break it or make it opportunity. After 9 minutes had gone by, both teams tied at 92 points all with less than a minute left in the game. Ol’Aces’ Ben Lisua was fouled in the key area and was given to charity opportunities.
He was able to bag the last shot and nail the lead with less than 20 seconds left in the game. But the Hoopaholics refused to give up. Dave Sablan sliced past his foes defense barriers for a crucial jump shot. With a split second’s silence the ball passed through the net give the win to the Hoopaholics by a hairline, 94-93.
