Godfather’s routs Paire in Men’s League opener

Inter-Godfather’s tallied three points by the second 45-minute half, winning 4-2 at Oleai soccer field. Paire drew first blood, scoring its first goal from Jason Schroeder in the 34th minute. Godfathers’ David Duenas tied the game two minutes later, sending the ball past Paire’s goalie Daniel Stafford.

Both teams reached a stalemate for the rest of the first half. A swift offense from the Inter-Godfather’s proved successful, with Paire forced back to defend their post.

Otsuka Masatoshi scored the Godfathers’ second goal in 51st minute, followed by another from Reusora (75th minute).

Steven Mckagan lifted Paire’s hopes with another goal, but failed to connect another.

Ahead, 3-1, Inter-Godfather’s had only seven minutes to burn. Houk secured the game – and surprised Stafford – with a last-minute kick, landing Godfathers’ fourth point.

Wild Bills 7, KFAS 4

Meanwhile, the Wild Bills needed more than four points to beat the Korean Football Association of Saipan in an earlier game.

A stronger late-game offensive led the Wild Bills to victory, outrunning KFAS 7-4.

The KFAS soared ahead at first, with goals from Cho Jin Wook (20th min) and Lee Jun Woo (23rd min).

Despite their attempts, the Wild Bills drew blanks in the first 40 minutes. They tied the game, 2-2 early in second half thanks to Lar Wongpaya. Adul Detdon pulled through with five more goals, landing one after the other in the 51st, 65th, 72nd, 78th, and 80th minutes.

Woo scored his team’s final two points in the 68th and 81st minutes. The KFAS, losing time on the defense, failed to advance after Woo’s third goal.

In a B Division match, the Independent Football Club – Ol’ Aces fell to MP United – Blue, 5-0.

MP United took the lead with Paul Yoon’s in the eighth minute.

Try as they might, the Ol’ Aces couldn’t get through Joshua Borja and Dong Hyun Kim.

MP United ended the first half with four points and finished the second with one more goal in the 66th minute.

NMIFA to start youth, women’s leagues.

In addition to its men’s league, the Northern Marianas Islands Football Association will also start its Youth League on Saturday, March 12.

The Women’s 11 vs. 11 Spring League will commence next week Friday, March 18 at the Commonwealth Ports Authority Field (also known as Airport Field).
