Lawyer seeks default judgment vs certain poker investors in lawsuit

Attorney Bruce Berline, who is representing Zhen Yu Quan and Lorelei Vinas, said Islas Marianas Inc., CYP Corp., and Kwang Hun Oh, also known as David Oh, failed to answer the lawsuit, or the time for the defendants to appear had expired.

Failure to pay overtime wages and breach of contract were the earlier causes of action alleged by the plaintiffs last November.

The additional causes of action filed last December were successor liability under the Fair Labor Standards Act, fraudulent transfer of assets, and unlawful retaliation against Quan.

Berline said summons were served on the defendants.

Quan was hired as a cashier on Feb. 22, 2007 and was terminated on Dec. 4, 2010, the complaint said.

Vinas was hired as a cashier from Dec. 7, 2007 until Oct. 12, 2010.

Quan was fired on Dec. 4, 2010 after she filed the lawsuit.

Islas Marianas owns/operates Ace I Poker, Ace II Poker, Ace III Poker, and Piano Poker on Saipan.

CYP Corp. owns/operates various poker parlors and/or Laundromats also on Saipan, the complaint said.

Variety tried but failed to get a comment from the defendants.
