Local fans make their Super Bowl picks

“I am going with Steelers because of Brett Keisel’s beard!”

-Glenn Smith, MISO official

“Steelers by 9… Harrison knocks Rogers out of the game in the 3rd quarter… ‘Big Ben’ shows that he truly is a ‘Playa!’”

Nick Gross,

MISO acting president

“I’m a Green Bay Packers fan.”

-James Feger, MHS teacher

“Steelers all the way. I have always been a Steelers fan since the day of the steel curtain (Mean Joe Green, Terry Brashaw, Franco Harris….and so on.) Defense is the name of the game and that’s how they will win it.

-Rufino Aguon, NMC instructor

“When it comes to offense, both quarterbacks can make plays through the air and on the ground, the respective running games are solid, and the receiving corps has a mixture of youth and veteran leadership. On the defensive side, both teams possess stout linemen, athletic ball-hawking linebackers and experienced game-changing defensive backs. The Steelers always seem to pull through in the hardest contests, and I expect them to do the same against the Packers on game day. Pittsburgh 24, Green Bay 20.”

-Brad Ruszala, IT&E marketing associate

“I like the Steelers, because of their defense. Ben Roethlisberger will be able to solve the Packers’ D, but Aaron Rogers will have no answer for Troy Polamalu and company.”

-Michael White,

NMASA president

“I love that the Steelers theme song is Renegade by Styx. You have to love a team that has a Styx song as their anthem. My pick? Steelers by 3.”

-Glenn Policare,

PIC activities manager

“I pick Green Bay, Aaron Rodgers will propel the Packers to victory, with Clay Matthews’ defense just barely keeping Ben Roethlisberger in check.”

-Norman Del Rosario, Konflikt designer/owner

“Go Packers! I haven’t been this excited for a Super Bowl since the Chargers vs. Niners in ’95. I’ve become a big fan of Aaron Rodgers and the Pack over the last 2 seasons and am looking forward to seeing Aaron flash his ‘championship belt’ end-zone move in the big game. The Pack D cannot let PIT run the ball 40 times for 4-yards a carry and have possession for nearly 35 minutes like the Jets allowed two weeks ago, and I think GB can contain PIT’s passing game and Big Ben’s moves out of the pocket. If the Pack D can keep the time of possession battle even and give Rodgers and the offense eight possessions, they’ll put at least four scoring drives together, which should be enough for a 24-17 or 24-20 Packer win. Then we’ll start a Saipan Cheesehead Society, what do you think?”

-Randy Steele, Triple J Motors general manager

“I’m rooting for the Packers as I like their defense and their quarterback Aaron Rogers. However, the Steelers are a very tough team when it comes to Super Bowls. They’ll be tough to beat, but you never know. If the Packers can somehow prevent Troy Palamolu from getting to Aaron Rogers because I know they’ll have a lot of passing schemes, they’ll do well. One last thing, shut down Ben Roethlisberger and don’t let him get out of the pocket and scramble. I predict the game to be close and Packers will win by a field goal or one touchdown.”

-Edward Salas, NMIFA general secretary

“Packers cause there one of my favorites. All the players are strong and so is the team. I’ma predict that Packers will take Super Bowl, winning 24 – 17 over the Steelers. Plus Aaron Rogers is a skilled quarter back.”

-Derek Leung, NMC student
