Pacific summits mark World Water Day

Palau, the Federated States of Micronesia and the Marshall Islands held summits with the aim of strengthening their water management policies.

Providing a regular supply of fresh water is a challenge for  small islands, where lack of infrastructure, growing populations and natural hazards pose significant challenges.

In the FSM, World Water Day was celebrated during the National Water Summit 2011 in Pohnpei  with a parade from  Palikir to the Pohnpei State Administration Building in Kolonia, followed by other events.
