Fly Guam set for inaugural flight

Deleon Guerrero said the new airline will fly from Guam, Saipan, Hong Kong then back to Saipan and Guam.

Once the new airline acquires another plane, it will commence servicing other areas, Deleon Guerrero said.

He also confirmed that Fly Guam and CPA will be signing an airline user’s agreement “according to my attorney if all things are clear.”

Fly Guam’s spokesperson had not returned this reporter’s call as of press time.

Fly Guam is already selling tickets.

Variety learned that the Guam-HK flight costs $450 exclusive of tax or $607.96 tax included.

In an earlier press release, Fly Guam announced that Freedom Air, a local airline serving the region for 35 years, teamed up with Hong Kong-headquartered World Aviation Incorporated Ltd. to form Fly Guam.

It further stated that the new airline’s marketing strategy involves integrating the “Hafa Adai” spirit into everything: employee uniforms, in-flight meals, and in-flight magazine.

It announced that the new airline will be flying to Taipei, Guangzhou, Shanghai, Osaka, Manila, Palau, and Seoul.

Fly Guam will begin operating with two Boeing 737-300 with seating capacity of 112 economy class and 12 business class seats.

Fly Guam said it hired 35 new flight attendants and several mechanics for this new venture.

Variety learned that Fly Guam’s plane arrived on Guam Tuesday.

Early this week, Fly Guam’s first plane, a Boeing 737-4YOm left Lakeland Linder Regional Airport in Lakeland Florida en route to Guam via Las Vegas, Oakland, and Honolulu.

Variety also learned that the Fly Guam aircraft, wet-leased from Sky King Inc. — a charter airline based in Sacramento, California — is a 23-year-old airplane originally delivered to Istanbul Airlines in 1988 and leased from Guiness Peat Aviation. It passed on to Kolding in 1996; China Xinhua Airlines, 1996; Bouillioun Aircraft Holding Company and leased to Cronus Airlines in 1998; Aegean Cronus Airlines, 2001; Aegean Airlines, 2003; and Fly Guam on Feb. 23, 2011.
