Twas Marahuyo Muffet’s day off from school
She on the road looking for a big toad stool
A journey she had begun under a cloudy sun
She avoided a large confederacy of dunces
Who in turn were all surrounded by fools
With and without merciful justice or fun
Innocent of her beauty she needed no tools
Her statuesque sculptured and Rubenesque
Her laughing without any reason or rhyme
A chance for romantic attitudes to study
Latitude and longitude in a now sunny clime
Her freckled cheeks and her long black braids
Her eyes sucking me in to bottomless pools
Quicksand pulls me in impossible to wade
As Marahuyo found a seat on a big toad stool.
FORMS OF LOVE IN THE FALL
flailing falling failing and wailing
Forms of love are many more from shore to shore
Swarms of love draw blood like mosquitoes feed
Barns of love hold hay and cows as lovers browse
Quorums of love converse about fact and fantasy
Storms of love disregard typhoons without reason
Dorms of love hold charmers up in the dormers
Worms of love wiggle squiggle and giggle, then lie
Fry and die on love’s hot highways and streets
What then would be some other norms of love
Why any and more of what you read up above
Norma and Norman’s love is beyond normal
Their love is sometimes formal and informal
Complex uncomplicated yet not domesticated
X-rated fated sated and often not seldom stated
Gold and silver plated mismatched and mated
Old fashioned and ignorant old school outdated
Triple AAA rated comic tragic and time faded
Patiently at times and then impatiently waited
By some loving some living and some belated
The norms of love just simply do not exist
There are none no matter how much you resist
On the list love and be loved kiss and be kissed
Then you wake up and wonder what you missed.
