McDonald’s Guam & Saipan donates $25,000 to local non-profits through golf classic

McDONALD’S Guam and Saipan is proud to announce a total of $25,000 in donations to four non-profit organizations across Hawaii, Guam, and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands. These contributions are the result of the successful 2024 McDonald’s Biennial Golf Classic, a fundraising event held at Laolao Golf Bay & Resort on Dec. 7, 2024.

“Giving back to our community is at the heart of what we do, and supporting organizations that make a real difference is an honor. I am thrilled to contribute to the Karidat, USO, Make a Wish, and RMHC missions. Together, we can help create lasting change and empower individuals and families,” said Marcia Ayuyu, owner/operator of McDonald’s Guam and Saipan.

Among the beneficiaries is Ronald McDonald House Charities or RMHC Hawaii, which received $10,000 to continue providing a “home-away-from-home” for families with seriously ill children receiving medical treatment on Oahu. Their services ensure that families can stay together during challenging times, offering lodging and essential support.

“We are incredibly grateful to McDonald’s Guam & Saipan for their generous support and commitment to our families in need. The Biennial McDonald’s Guam & Saipan Golf Classic is not just a tournament — it’s a powerful demonstration of compassion and community,” said Ed Nishioka, Ronald McDonald House Charities of Hawaii president and CEO. “The funds raised through this event directly impact the families we serve at Ronald McDonald House Charities of Hawaii, providing them with a place of comfort and care during some of the most challenging times of their lives. We truly appreciate this partnership and look forward to continuing our shared mission of keeping families together.”

Karidat Saipan, a social services organization dedicated to assisting individuals and families in crisis, received $5,000. Their programs include emergency food and shelter, counseling, and other support services aimed at improving the well-being of the community.

“Brought in these hard economic times, this generous donation will help us sustain our efforts to support those in the community with housing & food insecurity. We were very happy to see that it was a large amount because it will go far to help the needed ones in the community,” stated Lauri Ogumoro, executive director of Karidat Social Services.

Another recipient, Make-A-Wish Guam & CNMI, was given $5,000 to help fulfill life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses. Make-A-Wish brings hope and joy to children and their families, creating lasting, positive memories.

“On behalf of the board of directors of Make-A-Wish Guam & CNMI, Si Yu’os Ma’åse to McDonald’s of CNMI and Guam for selecting our foundation as one of the beneficiaries of their McDonald’s Golf Classic. Their donation will help us grant wishes to critically ill children in Guam and the CNMI,” stated Eric Tydingco, president & CEO of Make-A-Wish Guam.

Additionally, United Service Organizations Guam received $5,000 to continue its mission of strengthening and supporting America’s military service members. By providing morale-boosting programs and essential resources, USO Guam helps keep service members connected to their families, home, and country.

“I want to extend a heartfelt thank you and dangkolo yan si yu’os ma’ase to the McDonald’s of Guam and Saipan for the incredible support in the USO mission. As a congressionally chartered, private, and non-profit organization, we rely on the generosity of individuals, organizations, and corporations to support everything we do for those who sacrifice so much for our home and for our country, so that all Americans can benefit,” stated Jadine Lujan, area director of USO Guam.

The funds raised from 2024 McDonald’s Biennial Golf Classic have made these donations possible, from the generous sponsors, players, and supporters across Guam and CNMI. Their participation and commitment played a vital role in raising these funds, allowing us to give back to organizations that make a meaningful impact on our communities.
