GOVERNOR Arnold I. Palacios on Monday signed House Local Bill 24-6 into law, appropriating $50,411 in casino revenue for Saipan projects.
Authored by House Floor Leader Joel C. Camacho, H.L.B. 24-6 is now Saipan Local Law 24-1. It appropriates $50,411 from the remaining balance of the annual exclusive casino license fee that Imperial Pacific International paid to the CNMI government in 2019. The funds will be used for the maintenance, repair, and improvement of parks and recreational facilities, as well as for equipment rental related to the repair of secondary roads in Precinct 4.
Of the total amount, $35,411 will go to the Division of Parks and Recreation for the maintenance, repair and improvement of recreational facilities in Precinct 4, while $15,000 is allotted to the Division of Roads and Grounds for the purchase of base coarse and the rental of necessary equipment to facilitate the repair of secondary roads in Precinct 4.
Camacho thanked the governor for signing the measure, saying it will help address repairs to critical secondary roads and support the maintenance of parks and recreational facilities in Precinct 4.
